How to Apply for a Dispensary License in Rhode Island
Understanding the Rhode Island Cannabis Application Process
Rhode Island is still in the process of establishing a comprehensive regulatory framework for commercial cannabis operators. To understand the RI marijuana application process, we all have to wait for a clear process to be created and published. We were hoping for this to happen by the end of October 2024, but we are still waiting. This web page will be updated as soon as more information is known.
The only upcoming opportunity for new licenses is for 24 new dispensary licenses that will be awarded using a lottery process. Entering the lottery will involve submitting some plans and procedures, along with showing sufficient capital and likely site control for a properly zoned location. We can help with your RI cannabis plans and procedures. That link will take you to one of our other websites.
Do You Need an RI Cannabis Law Firm to Apply for a Dispensary License in Rhode Island?
When the cannabis licensing process is competitive, cannabis law firms based in the state where the opportunity is are often the first choice for applicants, but in lottery situations, it does not make sense to pay that much for a chance to win. That’s where a company like ours can help you with the RI dispensary application process. Since lotteries are easier to qualify for and often allow for curing deficiencies in any submitted materials, it doesn’t take an expensive law firm to get you into the game.
A cannabis consulting firm like ours has plenty of experience getting our customers into lotteries. We have done it already in KY, MD and DE, just in the past year. Consultants don’t have to be high dollar operations either. Our document sets for these kinds of situations never exceed $4500 in cost, and if you are applying for multiple licenses, your additional documents sets are heavily discounted since the content between document sets overlaps quite a bit. We also sell documents individually in case you want to handle some of them yourself.
ONLY 24 retail licenses will be available in the upcoming 2024-2025 lottery! The rest of the license types are not currently open to new applicants.
